Meet Squad Foster

Lillie Mae

Lillie Mae Update

On 1/5/23, we were contacted by a staff member at Dog Culture. A man brought Lillie Mae to them and asked if Dog Culture adopts dogs out. They let him know that they only offer doggy daycare and boarding, & they informed him that they were closed. Shortly thereafter, staff watched as this sweet mama was dumped outside their building in downtown Greenville, SC as the man drove away.

Lillie Mae stayed at a Dog Culture team members home that evening, and she became a Squad foster on 1/6/23. We are still so grateful for the staff at Dog Culture for taking her in that night and keeping her safe! They gave her a bath, and bought her a new necklace, leash, and dog sweater. They even gifted her a squeaky toy!

Since her teats were enlarged and full of milk, we decided to reach out to our pals with Labor of Love to see if they knew of any newborn motherless pups. Lillie Mae had been anxiously pacing as if she were searching for her own babies.

Labor of Love had recently discovered some motherless puppies in North Carolina who could benefit from Lillie Mae’s milk. On 1/8/23, Labor of Love transported Lillie Mae to North Carolina with the hope the puppies would take to mama, and vice versa. It was a 50/50 chance.

Unfortunately, Lillie Mae had no interest in feeding those babies. Even though it didn’t go as planned, she continued to receive all the TLC in the world from those gracious humans.

Since then, we’ve learned that she tested positive for heartworm and will receive her first injection of melarsomine on Friday 2/10/23.

Heartworm treatment is expensive, and typically costs $1,000+. Lillie Mae is asking you to lend a paw!
