Meet Alfie

About Alfie

Meet Alfie — the walking bowling ball you didn’t know you needed.

Alfie is everything you’d expect from a young English Bulldog: goofy, playful, a little lazy, and completely obsessed with people. He loves making new friends, enjoys his playtime, and is equally happy flopping down for a good lounge session when the fun is done. His personality is pure bulldog charm wrapped in a compact, lovable package.

This sweet boy is estimated to be around 2 years old, is neutered, and up to date on vaccinations. Even better, Alfie is feeling better than ever after successfully undergoing BOAS surgery in January. Thanks to this procedure, he now has dramatically improved breathing and an excellent quality of life, setting him up to enjoy all the bulldog things—walks, playtime, naps, and snuggles—without struggling to catch his breath.

Alfie is truly thriving and ready to find a family who will adore his silly antics, affectionate nature, and big personality in a short, stocky body.

Alfie Surgery Update

January 27, 2026

No dog should ever have to fight for air.

And yet here we are—again—standing beside a dog whose body failed him before he ever had a chance, because humans chose appearance over health and profit over wellbeing.

We see this far too often. Dogs who snort, gasp, panic, overheat, collapse. Dogs whose lives are quietly shaped around what their bodies can’t do.

This isn’t “just how they breathe.” This isn’t normal. And it isn’t fair.

Alfie didn’t ask for this. He didn’t choose this body. But he’s the one living inside it.

Tomorrow is a big day for Alfie. He’ll have his cherry eye repaired, and more importantly, he’ll undergo BOAS surgery to open his airways—so breathing doesn’t feel like work anymore. So sleep can be restful. So play doesn’t come with risk. So his life can finally feel a little easier.

This surgery is life-changing.

It’s also costly.

Estimated cost: $5,444.36–$6,510.02

Rescue is full of moments like this—where doing the right thing is never cheap, never simple, but always necessary. We wish we could say yes to dogs like Alfie without worrying about the numbers. But the truth is, we can’t do this alone.

If you’re able to help, even in a small way, please know it matters more than you realize. If you can’t donate, sharing Alfie’s story still helps more than you know.

Because no dog should struggle to breathe just to exist.

How It Started

October 2025

In October, this sweet English Bulldog was found with a heartbreaking amount of maggots eating into fresh wounds. Thanks to his incredible finders—who stepped up and became his foster family—Alfie is healing more each day and discovering what love feels like for the very first time.

He’s under two years old, heartworm negative (thank goodness!), and will be neutered once he’s strong enough. His cherry eye will also be corrected soon.

Despite everything he’s endured, Alfie’s spirit shines bright. His whole body wiggles when he’s happy, and he’s quickly winning hearts with his gentle, goofy personality.

He’s great with kids, cats, and dogs, and he’s even a pro when it comes to bath time!

Alfie’s learning quickly, too—he already knows sit, down, come, and shake in just three short weeks. He’s also doing wonderfully with kennel training and finds comfort in his crate.

This boy is the full package: resilient, loving, and ready for a forever family who will never let him down again.
