Meet Bridge
Bridge is a 9–10-year-old senior boy who came to Dog Squad after being trapped as a stray.
Before we ever met him, people had been posting about him repeatedly on Nextdoor. Witnesses watched Bridge get hit by a car not once, but twice. Then he was attacked by another stray dog. Terrified and injured, he disappeared underneath a trailer and stayed there for days before he could finally be safely captured.
That is how Bridge’s story with us began.
But if you are picturing a frail old man who just wants to sleep his days away, you clearly haven’t met Bridge.
This boy still has so much spunk left.

What Bridge Is Really Like
Senior status. Puppy-level charm. Emotional support toy required.
Bridge gets along with every dog in our pack, but he seems to have a particular soft spot for Great Pyrenees. Nearly every Pyr who comes through our home somehow ends up becoming Bridge’s friend.
He is social without being overwhelming, sweet without demanding constant attention, and just quirky enough to make you laugh.
And then there are the toys.
Bridge does not go anywhere without his emotional support toys.
He doesn’t destroy them. He doesn’t shred them. Half the time, he isn’t even really playing with them.
He just wants them nearby.
He carries them from room to room, settles down beside them, and keeps them close like tiny stuffed security blankets. It is one of the most endearing things about him.
For a dog who spent days hiding underneath a trailer trying to survive, there is something especially sweet about watching him decide that a stuffed toy makes the world feel a little safer.
Things We’re Still Working On
Honestly, Bridge has settled into home life remarkably well.
Like any dog who has survived life as a stray, he benefits from consistency, patience, and a predictable environment. He takes Prozac to help manage his anxiety.
His future family should give him time to settle in and understand that some of the little things that bring him comfort — including his beloved toys — are important to him.
Those emotional support toys are coming with him.
We’re pretty sure that part is non-negotiable.
Adopt Bridge
You may be Bridge’s person if:
• You have a soft spot for senior dogs with some spunk left in them.
• You have a dog-friendly home, especially if there happens to be another dog looking for a best friend.
• You do not have cats or small children.
• You are looking for a house-trained companion who already understands the good life.
