Meet Crumble, our newest Squad Foster!
Crumble’s story is a heartbreaking reminder of the resilience of animals and the importance of rescue. This sweet, squatty boy is estimated to be around 2 years old. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and ready to start his journey toward a better life.
Crumble was found as a stray by Spartanburg Animal Control and brought to GCAC on October 30, 2024. While his past is a mystery, his hardships are clear. After being placed in offsite boarding, Crumble returned to the shelter with a painfully distended abdomen. He’s been battling a tough case of canine infectious respiratory disease complex (CIRDC) since November 5, leaving him weak and vulnerable. Due to his declining health, Crumble was placed on the shelter’s euthanasia list and needed to leave the shelter TODAY to survive.
Crumble’s challenges don’t end there. He’s an orthopedic nightmare, as the shelter vet’s X-rays revealed. He has chronically fractured femoral heads and severe hip dysplasia—conditions that have likely caused him immense pain for a long time. To make matters worse, his X-rays also showed a belly full of rocks, a heartbreaking sign of desperation from his time as a stray.
Crumble is now safe with his foster mom, who will ensure he gets the love and care he desperately needs. Tomorrow, he’ll visit Dr. Alexander at Riverside Vet to assess his condition and begin addressing his medical needs.
Crumble has a long road ahead, but with your support, we know this resilient little guy can overcome his challenges. Welcome to the Squad, Crumble—you’re safe now, and your journey to a brighter future starts today.
