Ember is a 4-month-old puppy who was rescued from the euthanasia list at a local shelter, and she’s now ready to find the forever family she deserves! She’s in perfect health, gets her final round of puppy vaccines on 7/29/25, and will be spayed shortly after. All she’s missing is someone to love her for the playful, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining pup that she is.
Ember is highly intelligent and picks up on training quickly—especially when treats or snuggles are involved. She’s still growing into her oversized ears and legs, which only adds to her goofy charm. One of her favorite pastimes? Curling up with her humans to watch TV. Yes, actually watch it.
She enjoys playing with other dogs and would love a home with a canine buddy. She is also cat friendly.
We were convinced Ember was at least half German shepherd or border collie. I mean, just look at her! But her DNA results came in, and we were 100% wrong. Not a drop of either breed in sight. 😅
So what is Ember made of?
➡️ 42% Boxer
➡️ 33% Siberian Husky
➡️ 23% Golden Retriever
➡️ 2% American Pit Bull Terrier
While she doesn’t look like a typical husky or boxer, her personality is a dead giveaway. Ember is smart, playful, goofy, and full of that classic husky sass—yes, she talks back. 😂 Her coat? Not short, not long—somewhere perfectly in between. Basically, the best of all worlds.
💡 Here’s a fun fact: Only 0.25% of a dog’s DNA determines their physical appearance. That means 99.75% of what makes them who they are is happening under the surface—like behavior, health, personality, and more. So while Ember may look like one thing, she acts like exactly what her DNA says she is. 🤯
She gets her final round of puppy vaccines tomorrow (7/29/25), and then we’ll schedule her spay. All she’s missing is a forever family to love her for the quirky, whip-smart, head-tilting goofball she is. 💛
Big day for Squad foster Ember — she officially finished her final round of puppy vaccines today, which means she’s cleared for takeoff into the real world (aka dog-friendly patios, trails, and adventures galore)!
Ember is the goofiest little sidekick with a huge personality. She’s incredibly dog-friendly and thrives with canine companions. Her foster home has a cat, and Ember has been nothing but respectful — she gives the resident feline their space and minds her business like a polite pup.
She’d love a home with active humans who want a playful buddy to join them on life’s adventures… but don’t let her energy fool you. Ember is also a world-class couch potato when it’s time to wind down — as long as she has her own pillow, of course. Diva status: earned.

This sweet girl is ready to light up someone's life!
Ember had her check-up at Riverside Vet today!
She went in for her next round of puppy vaccines and was her usual sweet, wiggly self. Ember is 3 months old now and weighed in at 20 pounds. Her giant paws and ears seem to be growing faster than the rest of her body! It’s safe to say she’s going to be a big girl when she’s full grown.
The great news? Her broken wrist has fully healed, and she’s doing awesome. She has one more round of puppy shots in 3 weeks, and then she’ll be ready to take on the world.
Ember is ridiculously smart and super food motivated, which makes training really easy. She’s still looking for her forever home and would do best with an active family and a dog friend to play with. She absolutely lights up when she’s around other pups.
This tiny girl is just 2 months old, and she’s already been through more than any puppy should.
Ember was found alone and injured in the middle of the road, then taken to Greenville County Animal Care. Her wrist was broken, and she had an unusual gait that raised concerns about possible hip or pelvic injuries. Because of shelter overcrowding and her medical needs, Ember was placed on the euthanasia list and needed a rescue commitment by noon today to make it out alive.
Multiple kindhearted people sent us her post from the Upstate Foster Link SC Facebook group—and we knew we had to act.
This afternoon, Ember had her freedom ride. Her first stop? Riverside Vet.
She was sedated for x-rays (puppy wiggleworms made that part tricky!), and the radiographs confirmed a break in her wrist. The images didn’t clearly show whether her pelvis or hips are injured, so we’ll continue monitoring closely. The good news is that Ember does not need surgery or a splint—just strict kennel rest and some really good meds to help her heal comfortably.
Her vet visit today came to $451.67, and we’re asking for your help to cover the cost of her care. Every donation goes directly toward getting Ember back on her feet and one step closer to her forever home.
