Maddie and Maizie — affectionately known as the meatballs — came to Dog Squad after their owner passed away.
Their extended family had one request for us: Please keep the girls together.
So that is exactly what we are doing.
Their story actually started before that. Last year, Maddie and Maizie were surrendered to a shelter after being seized from unsanitary living conditions. Their late owner adopted them and gave them a home, but tragically, they only had about a year together before she passed away.
Now, these two are looking for another home. Together.
Because after everything they have already lost, we are not asking them to lose each other too.
Adoption fee: $100
Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption of a particular dog. Dog Squad is not a first-come, first-served rescue. Our goal is to find the home that best matches each individual dog’s needs.

If you are looking for two dogs who want to summit mountains with you every weekend, these are not your girls.
If you are looking for jogging partners, they would probably file a complaint.
Maddie and Maizie want the finer things in life:
A couch. A soft blanket. A family nearby.
And absolutely no unnecessary cardio.
They are affectionate, social, funny, and incredibly easy to love.
Both girls are wonderful with humans and dogs of all ages, and they absolutely adore the young children in their foster home.

Maddie has a heart of gold.
She is sensitive, sweet, affectionate, and eager to make her people happy.
She is usually the first one on the couch when there is an opportunity to cuddle and the last one to leave your side.
And then there is the tongue. Maddie has an iconic tongue that is almost permanently sticking out, which somehow makes her already-sweet face even more ridiculous.
She is the softer personality of the two — deeply connected to her people and perfectly content to spend her day pressed against someone she loves.

Maizie is every bit as sweet as Maddie.
She just comes with a little extra bulldog sass.
She is more independent, more fearless, and has a streak of orneriness she has absolutely no intention of apologizing for.
Maizie plays when she wants to play.
She cuddles when she wants to cuddle.
And she operates under the assumption that most of her decisions are correct.
Despite being the more independent of the two, Maizie is actually even more attached to Maddie than Maddie is to her. Where Maddie goes, Maizie is never far behind.

Maddie and Maizie are being adopted as a bonded pair.
That part is non-negotiable.
These girls have already experienced instability, lost a home, and then lost the person who gave them their second chance. What they still have is each other.
Their ideal family is looking for affectionate companion dogs rather than adventure athletes.
They would thrive in a home where they can spend their days hanging out with their people, lounging on the couch, playing when the mood strikes, and getting an unreasonable amount of attention.
• Maddie and Maizie must be adopted together
• A family prepared for twice the bully snuggles
• Plenty of couch space
• An appreciation for dogs whose idea of exercise is repositioning themselves on the sofa
• Children who want built-in cuddle buddies
• Other dog-friendly dogs
• A household that considers “doing absolutely nothing together” a legitimate weekend plan
