Our 14 resident dogs, known as “Squad Mentors,” play an invaluable role in socializing our foster dogs. These mentors teach our fosters more than humans ever could, offering lessons in dog-to-dog interaction, communication, and play.
When a new foster dog arrives, we allow them time to decompress and adjust to their new environment before fully integrating them slowly into our pack. This careful approach ensures each foster dog feels safe and comfortable, ready to learn from our seasoned Squad mentors.
Each of our resident dogs has a unique personality and quirks, providing a diverse array of dog types for our fosters to interact with. From playful and energetic to calm or even reactive, our Mentors over the spectrum, helping foster dogs become well-rounded and socialized before they find their forever homes.
Through this natural, dog-led socialization process, foster dogs gain confidence and learn essential social skills, preparing them for successful adoption and a smooth transition into their new families. Our Squad Mentors truly are the heart of our foster program, shaping the future of every dog that comes through Dog Squad headquarters.
