Dog Squad is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Greenville, South Carolina. We are a shelterless organization, meaning every dog in our care lives in a loving foster home—not in a shelter or facility. We receive no government funding and are entirely powered by the generosity of our community. Every life we save is made possible by people like you.
But Dog Squad isn’t your average rescue.
We are a lifeline for the dogs who have been forgotten, discarded, or deemed “too much.” The ones who show up on euthanasia lists with broken bodies. The ones pulled from cruelty cases, emaciated and trembling. The ones like Bernie—shot, caught in a bear trap, and left to die. These are the dogs we say yes to. These are the dogs who define our mission.
We specialize in medically complex and critically injured dogs—the cases most other rescues can’t take on. Whether it costs $800 or $28,000 to heal them, we give each dog the same chance at life. And no matter the expense, our adoption fee remains a flat $100. Because to us, what matters most is not a price tag—it’s finding the right home. One that will stand by them, love them, and never let them go.
We are intentionally small. That’s our strength. We believe in quality over quantity—taking the time to truly know each dog so we can make thoughtful, lasting matches. We don’t do first-come, first-served adoptions. We do forever homes.
At Dog Squad, we don’t just save lives—we rebuild them. And in doing so, we witness the most extraordinary thing: the dogs who have every reason to give up are often the ones who teach us the most about hope, resilience, and unconditional love.
We don’t cut corners when it comes to veterinary care. Instead of using high-volume, low-cost clinics, we bring our foster dogs to the same trusted veterinarians and emergency hospitals we use for our own pets. Every dog deserves gold-standard care, and that’s exactly what we provide.
Instead of opting for generic or low-cost kibble, every foster dog is provided with high-quality nutrition. We believe food is medicine, and we feed each dog as if they were our own.
It allows us to focus on quality over quantity, to know each dog as an individual, and to make thoughtful, lifelong matches. We don’t do “first come, first served.” We do forever.
Adoption day is just the beginning. We cherish updates, celebrate milestones, and continue to support our dogs and their families long after the paperwork is signed.
Each year, we quietly support community members and fellow rescues who have fallen on hard times—whether by covering emergency vet care or providing preventatives to keep beloved pets healthy and at home.
Inspired by our own beloved Charm, this special fund helps sponsor custom prosthetic limbs and mobility devices for canine amputees in need across our community.
